Fredric & Co. Salon Day for STAR Raises Over $1,600 (Darienite)

On Sunday, May 20, Fredric & Co. salon owners, Connie Hatterman and Janet Montanaro, along with their generous staff, opened their salon at 1060 Post Road, Darien for three hours to benefit STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way.

The Salon Day for STAR, “Bubbles and Blow-outs,” featured a lovely afternoon of Prosecco or Perrier, delectable sweets and STAR Special Hair Blowouts and Men’s haircuts for $30 and children’s cuts for $20.

One hundred percent of the funds raised were donated to benefit STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way, serving our neighbors who are impacted by intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1952.

Salon co-owner, Connie, was thrilled to share, “We are so glad that our team could raise so much money and meet so many new friends from STAR in one day. I am so proud of the Fredric & Co. staff for donating their Sunday off for such fine neighbors. We are all feeling very good about this experience.”

“This was a high-energy and fun community collaboration. Everyone enjoyed a lovely afternoon and there were big smiles on all the faces as they looked in the mirror at their new “do.”

The stylists worked tirelessly for three hours, going from one guest to the other, and generously donated all of their tips. We are grateful for Fredric & Co. and all of our local business partners who support STAR,” said Katie Banzhaf, executive director of STAR, Inc.

STAR clients received complimentary hair treatments and each guest received a goody bag with terrific styling products. There were also lovely prize drawings all generously donated by Fredric & Co. Salon.

The event was hosted by Darien residents Kathy Gogolak, Jane Glassmeyer, Carol Donegan, Lauren Stisser, Katherine Grambling and Barbara Fitzpatrick along with Katie Banzhaf and Martha Spiegel from STAR.

Guests enjoyed Prosecco (courtesy of Nicholas Roberts Wines) and savored sweet treats (courtesy of Kirby & Co.) as well as delectable pastries, fruit and Perrier that were artfully displayed for enjoyment between hair treatments.
