Respite care is temporary "relief" care and support that is provided to families who have a member with a disability. STAR's Respite Services provide support and well-deserved rest for the family member in a safe environment that helps to broaden the individual's horizons while giving family caregivers peace of mind.
Persons (16 years or older) who have developmental disabilities and are registered with the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS) are eligible. There is no cost to families. THe program is funded through numerous congributions and grants, including support from the State of Connecticut Department of Developmental Services.
