How STAR Makes A Difference
From a Mom's experience

My husband and I waited three years to hear the good news that I was pregnant. When I found out that the baby inside me was going to be born with Down syndrome, I did not even know what that was.

My beautiful daughter Belen is a fighter. She is a strong little Girl who is trying to reach her goals and teach me the true meaning of Down syndrome Now I understand what Down syndrome is. It means courage, persistence and strength to enjoy life every minute-like when she wakes up and gives me a smile, or when I am dressing her and she moves like a squirrel, and when she looks at me with those sparkling black eyes and calls me "Mama."

Belen is now preparing for preschool and STAR has been working with her since she was one month old. They teach her - and us - so much. One special day STAR sent Molly, a 17-year-old high school student with Down syndrome, to visit us. When we saw smart, beautiful Molly, we cried tears of joy--we saw our baby Belen's future! And it is so bright! Now I know why God wanted me to wait for my baby...he picked just the right moment to teach me the purpose of life.
